She is also the founder and president of Ann Gottlieb Associates, a fragrance consulting firm that provides strategic guidance and creative direction to fragrance houses, consumer product companies, and fashion designers.

Gottlieb was born in 1945 in New York City. She graduated from Barnard College with a degree in psychology and sociology. She started her career as a market researcher at Revlon, where she met Charles Revson, the legendary founder of the cosmetics company. Revson became her mentor and taught her the art and science of fragrance creation. He also encouraged her to pursue her passion and talent for perfumery. She later joined Estée Lauder, where she worked closely with Mrs. Lauder and Leonard Lauder on developing fragrances for the company.
